Popis: | Effects of neck length on the occurrence of cracking in spinning of a SUS409 tube were investigated using experiments and three-dimensional finite element simulations. The simulation results were used to calculate the damage values based on the ductile fracture criterion to predict the cracking onset. In case of the long necked portion, the calculated damage value was maximum at the tapered corners, where cracking actually occurred. The calculated damage values in cases with no cracking were lower than those predicted for the 40 mm length specimen. Results show that the damage value calculated from the simulation results identifies the spinning conditions under which cracking will not occur. |
