Teachers with administrative duties are expected not only to regularly enhance their teaching competence but also to punctually complete their administrative tasks as well as further assignments appointed by supervisors or school directors. This study aimed to explore the perception, the backlog of work, and the attendant stress of a teacher with administrative duties from a senior high school in one of the municipalities in Taiwan. Qualitative instruments with a semi-structured interview were implemented. The findings of this study demonstrate that Taiwans 2030 bilingual nation policy by the National Development Council (a) is giving rise to a considerable amount of multitasking and overtime but with little to no reward, (b) will split the rapport between teachers and students, and between colleagues, and (c) is an ingredient of cultural colonialism, elevating the position of a language with limited cultural connection to Taiwan. |
