Popis: |
Conventional methods for spectral classifi cation of remote sensing images are per-pixel based. As long as the spectral response of the objects is spatially homogeneous, these methods yield mapping units of suitable size and uniformity. However, if the spectral response of the objects is spatially heterogeneous, these per-pixel classifi ers are inappropriate and result in salt and pepper patterns. Especially in vegetation studies such classifi cation results with scatter are diffi cult to use for survey or as input to ecological models. For example open heterogeneous vegetation patterns as commonly found in Mediterranean and in semi-arid regions cannot be characterised by per-pixel classifi ers in a satisfying way. |
