Popis: Previous studies by Columbano et al.1 have shown that lead nitrate when injected intravenously as a single dose to rats, induces an hyperplastic response in the liver as indicated by an increased DNA synthesis and by an enhanced mitotic index. Liver hyperplasia was accompanied by a stimulation of cholesterol synthesis and hexose-monophosphate (HMP) shunt enzymes2.
