An investigation has been made of the bacteriological conditions of glass-rinsing waters in public houses and a disinfectant-detergent preparation has been formulated which ensures adequate sanitation without imparting any taste to the beverage subsequently filled into the glass. The preparation does not require that the glass shall have a second rinse, thus avoiding the objection that proper sanitation requires at least two separate rinsing operations. The disinfectant preparation finally selected is a new, recently synthesized quaternary ammonium compound mixed with certain detergent salts. It has a high killing power against many common pathogenic organisms and coliforms. |
