Visually impaired individuals are faced with many different problems in their daily and social lives. They have difficulties in performing ordinary activities such as walking in outdoor/indoor areas without facing obstacles, perceiving the objects around them, and shopping, so they need the help of second persons. In particular, they have problems in finding direction and reaching the desired point in indoor areas such as markets and shopping centers where there are more objects and obstacles. This study, it is aimed to enable visually impaired individuals to easily find the location of the aisles and products while shopping in places such as markets and stores by using the short-range wireless communication protocol called ultra-wideband and communicating with the application that the visually impaired individuals have installed on their smartphones. Thanks to the designed system, visually impaired individuals will be directed to the product they want to find in the stores or markets they have entered for shopping, and the product they are in front of will also be communicated to the users with audio notifications. It has been proven by various applications that the ultra-wideband communication protocol can locate indoors with a high degree of accuracy. For this reason, it is predicted that the use of ultra-wideband can give very good results with high accuracy and reliability in the designed system. In this study, the details of designing the proposed system for visually impaired individuals are explained. |
