Popis: A novel Koch snowflake fractal reconfigurable microstrip patch antenna design has been proposed in this paper. The antenna design is modeled and simulated on HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator) 13.0 software. Rogers RT/duroid 5880 is used as the substrate material. For incorporating reconfigurability in the fractal patch antenna, two PIN diodes modeled as lumped RLC elements have been used. Depending on the ON/OFF configuration states of the two diodes, changes in the various antenna performance parameters are observed. The results obtained lead to the conclusion that the proposed Fractal Reconfigurable Antenna (FRA) has a high radiation efficiency and is suitable to be used for wireless applications in the C-band; primarily, for satellite communications.
