Popis: | Young adults are disproportionately affected by STIs secondary to risky sexual behavior. Researchers have identified neuropsychological and individual differences as correlates, though samples often recruit substance users and paraphiliacs. The current study investigated the effects of impulsivity, time perspective, and executive functioning in 65 young adults recruited online. Participants completed measures of personality and neuropsychological functioning. Stepwise regression revealed sensation seeking and female gender as predictors of RSB. When classifying participants by condom use in the prior 6 months, positive urgency, present-hedonism, and younger age emerged as predictors. Our results underscore the facets of impulsivity and demographics as risk factors in RSB. Importantly, these facets operated independently of EF. |
