A Perspective on Strain Hardening Behavior of Materials Considering Mobile Dislocation Density and Activation Volume

Popis: | In the current study, a criterion based on mobile dislocation density and activation volume is derived for understanding the macroscopic strain hardening behavior. It is observed that there is a sharp drop in strain hardening rate in materials with low activation volume. The observed drop in strain hardening rate is explained in terms of enhanced softening effects associated with mobile dislocation density in materials with low activation volume. |
