Popis: The rate of HgTe transport in the closed system HgTe–NH4Cl was calculated and measured for the temperature dropping from 753 to 743 and from 801 to 786 K along the ampule. The process was shown to be diffusion-controlled. HgTe single crystals ≤8 mm in size with a unit-cell parameter of 6.4590 ± 0.0002 A and dislocation density of ∼104 cm–2 were grown.
