The health and productivity of ruminants are related to the state of rumen and intestinal digestion. The adaptogen lithium ascorbate as a feed additive affects all parts of the gut-brain axis, including the rumen microbiota. The composition of the rumen microbiota of sheep kept in vivarium conditions was determined by NGS sequencing. 37 phylums, 76 classes, 98 orders, 225 families and 894 species of microorganisms that are part of the sheep rumen microbiota of the control and experimental groups were identified. By NGS sequencing, it was found that the introduction of lithium ascorbate at a dose of 10 mg/kg of live weight into the main ration of sheep contributed to an increase in the proportion of cellulolytic bacteria from 73.6 ± 1.6% to 75.4 ± 0.9% and a decrease in the total number of infusoria in the rumen content by more than 40%. At the same time, the cellulolytic activity of the rumen fluid of the sheep of the experimental group increased by 38% compared to the animals of the control group. In the sheep of the experimental group, the pH of the rumen fluid in 60 days after the start of the experiment was 6.73, which corresponded to the optimal conditions, while in the sheep of the control group it remained at the same level – about 7.1. The obtained data confirm the positive effect of the adaptogen lithium ascorbate introduced into the diet at a dosage of 10 mg/kg of live weight on the qualitative and quantitative composition of the sheep rumen microbiota, in particular, cellulolytic microorganisms. |
