This chapter first considers the inadequacy in the present approaches in the characterization of chemical wear. An empirical approach for modeling wear rate is then described based on the developed computer program. The method is then used to model wear behavior of engine oil based on design of experiments (DOE). The final section deals with the approaches that can be used when relatively short duration wear tests are conducted. |
