Popis: The measurement, understanding and, ultimately, prediction of travel behavior change in response to sociodemographic changes, external economic and political factors, and specific interventions in the transport system are of paramount concern to policy makers in the new millennium. This chapter focuses on longitudinal methods, specifically those involving the use of panel surveys. This discussion reviews the use of panels, different types of panels, panel design and other methodological considerations, and weighting of panel data, with a view towards providing recommendations and needed research to take panels from concept to implementation. It is based on the discussions of a workshop at the 7th International Conference on Travel Survey Methods.
