In this paper we present infrared solution to overcome the limitations of RF technology for IOT applications. The proposed infrared protocol is light weight to be used in microdevices. The protocol was implemented on the popular Arduino hardware platform, in a typical end to end IoT system.The new protocol shows feasibility for IoT applications. The protocol exhibits low bandwidth, high latency, short range characteristics. The resources required are less and suited well for microdevices. The protocol is easy to customize, can be extended in future with more capabilities while maintaining a balance to its light weight characteristics. |
