Popis: | 1. The rise in the external electric field of a phosphate glass charged by a fast-electron beam in air is described by a relaxation curve [1] with a time constant of about 2 · 102 sec; the relaxation time is governed by processes at the interface. 2. The direction of the dipole moment in such a glass corresponds to localization of the injected charge nearer the irradiated surface if the extrapolated range is less than the plate thickness. 3. The external field at the saturation level is dependent on the charge distribution and is largest for γ = 0.7. 4. The strength of the external field indicates that the largest charges are accumulated by glasses with high bond energies for materials of the same type. |
