Popis: | Recently we reported the development of a prototypical pulsed x-ray generator driven by stacked Blumleins [1] . Eight triaxial Blumleins were stacked in series at one end and synchronously commuted at the other end by a single thyratron. Significant voltage gain was maintained in the stack while the thyratron was commuted at repetition rates to 100 Hz. Matching an x-ray diode to this pulse power source enabled it to deliver an exposure dose of 1 kR to a target in less than 2 minutes. This paper presents the progress in the construction of a second prototype stacked Blumlein generator. Voltage gains in excess of six times have provided open circuit voltages. approaching 500 kV across the stack. Improvements in the matching of an x-ray diode to this pulser are also discussed. |
