Popis: | At the University of St. Thomas, academic librarians actively participate in the First Year Experience program and serve as FYE advisors. Having an academic librarian as a freshman advisor is an advantage to the librarian, to the Academic Advising Center, to the FYE program, and to the university as a whole. It enables students to understand that librarians are members of the faculty and are excellent resources for them. As a hybrid of staff and faculty, the advisor/ librarian is able to develop more expertise much faster than the typical faculty member whose knowledge is often focused on departmental needs and expectations. Librarians understand that all campus departments—academic and support services—work in tandem for the academic success of the student. |
