Popis: | Fuel forwarding pipeline as part of fuel handling system enters the reactor vessel through a joint tube which is attached in external reactor vessel wall. Joint tube is made of carbon steel and coated inside with stainless steel. The coating has function to protect the carbon steel from rapid corrosion due to high temperature. The present study purposes to investigate the effect of heat on coating process for mechanical properties of material joint tube component. The experiments use carbon plate as base metal. The coating use welding process technique with six variations of current and welding voltage by using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). There are 18 stainless steel coated specimens and two fresh materials has been prepared for tensile and hardness testing. The obtaining results from the tensile testing indicate that stainless steel coating on carbon steel does not reduce its strength. The hardness of material has increase in the spot point near the metal coating due to the cooling rate process. Thus, the mechanical design of joint tube such as piping stress analysis able to calculate based on the carbon steel thickness and the effect of coating can be neglected.
