Popis: | This paper describes various methods of calculating the second law efficiency for a heat pump system using water as a heat source and a heat sink. The arrangement is typical of many industrial, commercial, and residential applications, especially those dealing with waste heat recovery. An experimental system is used to obtain measurements, and these measurements are evaluated by the various analytical techniques. Advantages and disadvantages associated with these methods are discussed, and the aspects which account for different practical physical constraints are illustrated. In each treatment presented, the measurements obtained from an actual heat pump system are used as the vehicle for discussion. |
