Generalized Analytical Model for Moisture Diffusion in a Composite Cylindrical Body

Popis: A mathematical model was developed for moisture diffusion in an n-layer cylindrical body with discon-tinuous moisture content at the interfaces and surface convection at the outer boundary. Generalized analytical solutions were given using the relatively simple but powerful technique of orthogonal expansion. Results for each eigenvalue arising from the associated space variable, and subsequently the series solutions, were obtained for two-layer concentric cylinders using various values of dimensionless parameters giving families of plots of moisture ratio vs. time. Influence of various diffusional properties of the two layers on the drying rate was evaluated.
