Popis: | In 1973, John HALL and Bill Miller finalized the Boston Brace system. When John Hall realized that the pelvic ring, cast with a Milwaukee orthesis could fit other patients, it occured to him that he could use this pelvic belt without superstructure to treat certain scoliosis. This orthesis will essentially be used to treat lumbar scoliosis as well as dorsal-lumbar with a summit inferiors to D10 scoliosis. Our experiment has been carried out on more than 250 patients treated with this orthesis. From an ideal and symetrical trunk shape, a monovalve body is realized. 6 sizes covered 80% of the subjects, and 20 sizes 95% of the subjects. At present, 46 modules are available, and 22 of them have a 15° lordosis. From the X-Ray, we realized cuts and added pads to create a couple of “forces appui-contre appui” which were to produce a spine derotation. Before its setting up, the lumbar flexion must be assimilated and the muscular retractions corrected. Skin troubles are rare. The adaptation must be progressive. The Boston Brace is an efficient orthesis, nearly invisible under their clothes, it is usually well accepted by adolescents. |
