Popis: The paper is focus on the radiation protection framework for DMSA-Tc99m renal scintigraphy. We look for the best relationship between image quality and the radionuclidic activity administered to adult and pediatric patients. Forty one cases using two γ-cameras were included in the sample. They were dosage with the activity as follow: 29 for the routine protocol at the hospital for adult or pediatric patients, 6 adults with the recommended activity by IAEA and 6 children by weight. The independent variables for image quality analysis were: γ-camera sensitivity, activity administered, weight, sex, age and pathology of each patient, the radiophar-maceutical mean labeling yield and the image acquisition time. Clustering and linear discriminant analyzes were done to look for clusters with differentiated image quality and to weigh the independent variables from the statistic point of view, in order to obtain the best protocols respect to the quality/dose ratio. The results show that is possible to reduce the activity down to 185 MBq for adults and down to 100 MBq for children of almost all ages, keeping good image quality with both γ-cameras.
