Academic motivation could boost an individual to achieve their academic goal. One of the factors toincrease academic motivation is to have goal setting. This study aims to determine whether goalsetting could increase academic motivation of undergraduate students who were writing theirundergraduate thesis. This experimental study used a one-group pretest-posttest research design withan online goal setting training as a treatment. This research was conducted on 30 students ofPembangunan Jaya University who were writing their undergraduate thesis. The AcademicMotivational Scale (AMS) were used as an instrument to measure any alteration of academicmotivation and Modified Goal Setting Questionnaire (MGSQ) were used as a part of the training toensure that the training given accomplished its targets. The training was successful to alter theparticipants’ understanding and skill of goal setting but the study proved that goal setting does notincrease academic motivation of the participants, despite the increasing mean scores of the group. Theonline training itself is an important factor to be further evaluated |
