Popis: Catalytic converters not only reduce air pollution from automobiles, but also improve fuel economy by allowing the engine to operate closer to its minimum fuel consumption. The characteristics of automobile engine emissions are examined, and the mechanism of three-way catalysis is described. The application of automatic, computerized sensors and controls to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of catalytic converters is discussed.
