This pre-registration describes the protocol that will be used to conduct a systematic review of quantitative evidence. The broad review question is whether the melody of newborns’ vocalisations is influenced by prenatal exposure to the melody of their native language. The study aims to systematically describe and critically appraise the experimental designs used and inferences made by existing evidence. This review will increase our understanding of the role of the prenatal period in language acquisition, specifically with regards to early prosodic development. |
