Popis: Mandibular canals (MC) are anatomical structures that extend bilaterally from the mandibular foramen to the mental foramen carrying the inferior alveolar nerves, arteries, and veins. Anatomical variations in the path of the MC are not rare and may suggest changes caused by local and / or systemic conditions. The frequent anatomical variations of the inferior alveolar nerve course should be considered prior to any treatment in this area. Some lesions associated with mandibular canal variation are of a neoplastic nature; therefore, a prompt diagnosis is quite important. Enlargement of the mandibular canal can be considered as a finding suggestive of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and, therefore, should be considered as a sign of alert. Dental imaging exams are considered an important research tool in the early stages of neoplasms such as NHL, as they allow professionals to detect and visualize the first signs of the disease. Poor management and delays can lead to a fatal prognosis for NHL in the jaw and it is important to detect the presence of the lesion in its initial stage and differentiate it from other neoplastic or inflammatory lesions.
