The Group Awareness Test (GAT) was developed as part of an extensive program of research to determine the extent to which ability to meet the psychological demands of combat, administrative, and technical officer assignments can be differentially predicted by psychological measures. Internal analysis of the Group Awareness Test was completed and reported in Research Memorandum 68-10. Subsequently, the scores derived from the internal analysis were included in a factor analysis of 149 subscores from the Differential Officer Battery. In this analysis several factors included only GAT scores. Because of this finding--and the unique nature of items of the GAT--further specific validation studies were undertaken. The present research memorandum presents the analysis of the 96 scores from the GAT described above for their validity in predicting performance at the Officer Evaluation Center (OEC). |
