Magnetic Properties of Rapidly Quenched Pseudoternary Pr2Fe14C Alloy Ribbons

Popis: We investigated the magnetic properties of melt-spun Pr 2 Fe 14 C and several pseudoternary compounds of the types Pr 2 (Fe,M) 14 C and (Pr, R) 2 Fe14C. A value for iH c of approximately 1.3 kOe was obtained in Pr 2 Fe 13 MnC alloy ribbons. Heavy rare earth substitution leads to an increase in the room temperature intrinsic coercivity. Values for iH c of 3 kOe and 6 kOe were achieved for (Pr 0.6 Gd 0.4 ) 2 Fe 14 C and (Pr 0.6 Dy 0.4 ) 2 Fe 14 C alloy ribbons respectively, and the composition Pr 7.9 Dy 5.2 Fe 79.7 C 7.2 was found to have a large intrinsic coercivity of 18 kOe.
