Popis: A pyroelectric detector may be operated in two different modes, adiabatic and isothermal, giving equal output signals. The noise behaviour for these modes is not equal and therefore performance may be improved by proper mode selection; i.e. the isothermal mode, when Johnson noise dominates, and the adiabatic when dielectric noise is the dominant noise mechanism. For LiTaO3, generally, the isothermal mode is superior.
