Popis: | For the treatment of deformity and fragility of long bones with osteogenesis imperfecta (O. I.), Sofield reported the procedure of segmental and rodding osteotomy. Compared with conventional rodding procedure which required frequent operations, an internal fixation with telescoping nail produced by Bailey in 1963 has reduced the incidence of fractures and prevented the bone deformities for a longer duration. We reported 3 cases of O. I. which were treated by this procedure. Two of them, 7-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy have not had fractures for 2.5 years. All of them can walk with or without cane. |
