Popis: Childhood disorders can be divided into three major categories: hypertonic disorders, hyperkinetic disorders, and negative signs. This chapter discusses hypertonic disorders, giving emphasis to spasticity and hyperkinetic disorders, mainly dystonia. Both scenarios are common in children with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is a group of developmental disorders of posture and movement, attributed to nonprogressive disturbances that occur in the developing brain. Such disturbances occur during or before early infancy and delay or impede functional independence on daily life activities. Assessment and management of cerebral palsy are discussed and there is a special focus on spastic (hemiplegia, diplegia, and quadriplegia) and dystonic subtypes.
