Popis: Group lending, the bundling of several borrowers together in groups, has been recognized as having helped to reduce loan transaction costs and extending credit to millions of poor and impoverished people around the world. Although there has been significant research on the connection between group lending and loan repayment rates, we suggest there are other outcomes of interest that need to be examined. Specifically, we suggest that the structure of group lending likely impedes innovative entrepreneurship and thus may be counterproductive in creating economic growth.
