Popis: In Reply.— Onori and Hempel's response to our letter gives some international perspective to the problem of malaria prophylaxis in travelers. It seems that the Europeans are doing a better job than we are in making information on malaria prophylaxis available to travelers. However, we know of no study that proves that European travelers are any better informed or protected. We agree with Onori and Hempel that there is a plethora of information concerning malaria prophylaxis. It seems that the problem is getting that information to the traveler. Although some airlines do an excellent job informing their travelers, most American airlines do not. BOAC could serve as a model for other airlines. They make in-flight announcements concerning the risk of malaria, provide pamphlets to the travelers, and also provide prophylactic medication to those needing it. 1 Onori and Hempel mention that TIM is used by many airlines.
