Stochastic model for heterogeneous rail freight car fleet management based on the model predictive control

Popis: In this chapter, a model predictive control (MPC) approach is proposed for simultaneous optimization of the size and allocation of a heterogeneous freight car fleet under the partial sustainability assumption. The freight car demand and traveling times are modeled as stochastic variables. The model includes state, control, and capacity constraints. Based on the discrete time MPC framework with a description of design variables, system performance measures, constraints, and state vector estimation, the MPC controller is proposed. Proposed approach is applied to a set of test cases.
