| Popis: | The paper presents a prototype of a knowledge-based English-Polish machine translation (MT) system, focusing on issues related to aspect assignment. We propose a set of heuristic rules based on interlingua (IR) representation provided by the system. Our method obtains 78%–88% accuracy of aspect assignment on test data, which in the absence of a true semantic component, is a very encouraging result. |
