Popis: | In this review, we describe a laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) repair of a man with massive bilateral femoral hernias that had been chronically incarcerated, which has not previously been described in the literature. Our purpose is to not only to describe our laparoscopic technique and postoperative management, but also to comprehensively review the literature regarding the principles of laparoscopic hernia repair and specifically laparoscopic femoral hernia repair. TEP repair is a safe approach to the surgical management of femoral hernias, including those that are incarcerated, and furthermore offers the advantage of repairing other concomitant hernias, which may be more prevalent than expected. |
