Popis: (a) Pure protein kinase inhibitor [6 x I04units/ml; see McPherson et al. (1979) for definition of units], did not show any deinhibitor activity when measured in the deinhibitor assay with inhibitor 1 or modulator and the purified activated rabbit muscle Mg ATP-dependent phosphatase, or the spontaneously active phosphatase isolated from dog liver. (h) Purified protein phosphatase deinhibitor [500units/mg; see Goris et al. (1984) for definition of units] did not contain any measurable protein kinase inhibitor activity. Unlike the insulin generated factor (Lamer et al., 1979), which inhibits the cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase and stimulates glycogen synthase phosphatase activity, neither the protein kinase inhibitor nor the protein phosphatase deinhibitor shares both activities.
