Popis:	The use of short-lived fission products as monitors for fuel element burnup is described. The short-lived fission products allow the determination of burnup in less exposed fuel elements since the gamma radiation from longer-lived fission products can be identified only after the radioactive decay of an appreciable fraction of the nuclei of the short-lived isotopes.
