The paper presents the results of an experiment on the emission of radio pulses formed in a nonlinear transmission line with GaAs diodes. GaAs-based diodes can effectively sharpen pulse front with a lower probability of thermal breakdown than silicon diodes. The construction of a nonlinear line for the formation of radio pulses is briefly described. It is shown that the combined use of a nonlinear line with GaAs-based diodes is an effective tool for the formation of powerful radio pulses in the microwave range. In the experiment, a manufactured helical 5-turn antenna is used for radiation. The antenna is capable of operating at high voltages of the generated pulses. For the manufacture of the antenna, a high electrical strength potting compound was used instead of traditional vacuum oil. The experimental set presented in the work is based on the SINUS-160 device operating with a Tesla generator. Using a half-wave vibrator and an oscilloscope, the radiation level from the set is measured and the effective potential of the system is calculated. |
