Popis: This paper presents the influence of late design-stage stator teeth shape modification on the NVH modelling process and characteristics of an electrical machine. 2D electromagnetic simulations are used to determine the change in air-gap force spectra caused by the teeth shaping while 3D structural-dynamics analysis using the vibration synthesis method is used to determine the forced-response for both stator and full-machine structures. Because the unitary force shape responses are used in the electrical machine optimization process, this analysis verifies if it is sufficient to determine this transfer function once from the original, non-shaped stator structure and combine it with the airgap forces obtained from the electromagnetic FE analysis containing the modified stator cross section. The errors introduced by this procedure in terms of vibration displacement amplitude and frequency are quantified and a method for adjusting the frequency error using modal analysis results is presented.
