6-7-9-10-tetramethyl-1-2-benzanthracene and 1′-4′-dimethyl-3-4-(2′-3′-naphto)-pyrene have been prepared. Attempts to synthesise 11-12-dimethylanthanthrene and 9-10-dimethyl-1-2-3-4-5-6-tribenzanthracene have so far failed. Condensation products from β-(1-naphthoyl), β-(2-naphthoyl) and β-(2-tetrahydronaphthoyl)-acrylic acids with dicyclohexenyl and 2-3-dimethylbutadiene have been prepared. These afford further proof of the structure assigned to the β-(aroyl)-acrylic acids (2). |
