The illicit drug market is determined by heroin. There are also large amounts of cannabis.-Over all the drug criminality increases since 1972. Wanke (Pharmazeut. Z. 122, 1054, 1977) names 40.000 addicts as the hard core. The number of drug deaths increases every year. The German heroin market has changed during 1977. Southeast Asia heroin (Nr.3): 30–40% heroin, 30–40% caffeine, 1% acetylcodein, 1% strychnine and barbital a.o. has been replaced by Near and Middle East heroin (“turkish heroin”):70–80% heroin, 2–6% acetylcodein and traces of narcotine and papaverine. Some samples contain the alkaloids partly as free bases. We distinguish between different types.-Addicts often think heroin contains very toxic compounds. Strychnine f.i. is added during manufactoring in small amounts. The reason may be a better flavour during smoking. Heroin Nr.3 is originally a smoking material. The assumption strychnine is nessecary for the bitter taste of bad mixtures is not correct.-Recently severe convulsions during heroin injektions has been reported.(Loos, Crime Dept. Frankfurt) The reason may be mixtures with phenazon.-Cocaine is not very important at this moment.-Beside cannabis only amphetamines have some importance. Recently a very dangerous hallucinogene 4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxy-amphetamine has appeared.(Hall, CID-Lab. Frankfurt)-There are some other drugs with small and more local importance.-Cannabis and opium surrogates have been seen.-The wide spread misuse of tilidin (ValoronR) is reported. |
