Inorganic perovskite nanocrystals demonstrate tremendous optoelectronic properties and can be synthesized by various solution-processing techniques but they are largely overlooked for their alpha radiation scintillation applications. Synthesis of these perovskites from constituent solution and their efficient dispersion into matrix phase is still challenging. Here we demonstrate a simple, low-cost, in-situ strategy to fabricate CsPbBr3 – PMMA nanocomposite films through catalyst-free gamma irradiation and their room temperature alpha-scintillation response. Perovskite nanocrystals with average particle size of 43 nm were successfully prepared through the supersaturated recrystallization technique. Gamma-radiation-induced polymerization successfully yielded translucent yellow color nanocomposite films. Their optical properties were evaluated using UV–Vis absorbance and Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. We report for the first time, facile development and preliminary alpha response of solution processable - γ radiation polymerized CsPbBr3 - PMMA based nanocomposite for plastic scintillation. |
