Popis: | Substances composed of medium-size molecules (MW=350-2000 daltons) were removed from the patient's hemofiltrates by adsorption on activated carbon particles. Quantitative analysis was performed by means of a microcolumn using Sephadex G15 and the external standard method. Two different kinds of carbon particles were used in the experiment: commercialized DHP particles and the gelatin-bound SAC (self-made spherical activated carbons). The particle sizes were in the narrow range of 20-40 mesh. The main purpose of the study was to obtain the adsorption isotherms for each of the activated carbon particles. The effective intraparticle diffusion coefficients of each specific system were also calculated using experimental adsorption data from a batch system operation together with the one-compartment single-pore model. > |
