Popis: From May 1990 to July 1993 we used the 3M Powered Staplizer in 122 cases and the result was evaluated. Seventy-two cases were performed for high tibial osteotomy for osteoarthritic knee or rheumatic arthritis. Other cases were ankle arthrodesis (7 cases), hip arthrodesis (2 cases), rotational acetabular osteotomy (2 cases), femoral varus osteotomy (2 cases), ligament injury (11 cases), fracture (22 cases). Although postoperative rehabilitation was performed relatively early in the cases of high tibial osteotomy, no case showed delayed union, backing out and loosening of staples. We conclude that the Powered Staplizer provides the following advantages: 1) reproducibility, 2) a rapid and easy method of fixation, 3) reduced surgical time and stress, and it is an effective procedure for fixation of fracture and osteotomy.
