Popis: The hypothesis that Alzheimer’s disease is accelerated aging has been tested by comparing the patterns of neuron loss in the hippocampal region associated with normal aging and with Alzheimer’s disease. Qualitative differences were found in the patterns of loss in CA1, indicating that a unique neurodegenerative process not associated with normal aging is involved in Alzheimer’s disease.
