The Encore active target detector is a Multi Sampling Ionization Chamber developed at Florida State University (FSU). Encore has been successfully used to measure fusion reactions with CH 4 gas as well as ( α ,p) and ( α ,n) reactions using helium gas in the detector. The portability, self-normalizing, high-efficiency, and versatility of the Encore detector makes it ideal for measurements with low-intensity radioactive beams. This paper provides details on its development, operation, and analysis procedure. It also presents the results of benchmark experiments and comparison with existing data and calculations. |
