Popis: | The corrosion resistance of plates of a boron-bearing aluminum alloy has been studied. It has been shown that the alloy exhibits a high corrosion resistance in deionized water and an aqueous solution containing 16 g/L of boric acid; only after exposure to an aqueous solution containing 1.5 g/L of sulphanol, 3.5 g/L of sodium hexametaphosphate, and 5 g/L of oxalic acid does the sample undergoes significant destruction induced by its general corrosion. However, dielectric coatings prepared by plasma electrolytic oxidation protect the boron-bearing aluminum alloy from corrosion, including the case of its being in contact with stainless steel under conditions involving the use of containers to provide long-term radiation protection. |
