This paper considers the vibration analysis of an offshore platform perturbed by seismic forces. The stability of these structures is related with their frequency response during seismic events. The mathematical model of the structure considers the excitation force provided by a real earthquake occurred and registered in Mexico City in the year 1985. The mechanical structure is modeled using the Euler-Lagrange methodology and its frequency response is validated by using modal analysis techniques. A Finite Element Model (FEM) analysis is performed to show the planar and torsional behavior of the structure into a bandwidth. The offshore platform-like structure is excited via an electromagnetic shaker coupled in the base of the structure. Some experimental and numerical results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the overall system using a passive vibration control scheme. |
