Popis: | The exposure of as-produced HiPCo single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) to a camera flash causes ignition, (oxidation) and subsequent coalescence of the Fe catalyst particles, while purified SWNTs do not respond to flashing. TEM and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) analysis attribute the phenomena to the pyrophoric oxidation of Fe nanoparticles. |
